What is process mining?
Process mining is a method based on the analysis of digital footprints (log files) recorded in IT systems, which analyses the running of processes either in real time or based on off-line data loading.

- a complete identification of the flow branches,
- to detect hidden process problems, inefficiencies, repetition, multiple or redundant work by multiple staff,
- and to identify problems that have a significant impact on customer experience and activities that pose operational risks.
How is process analysis carried out?
Process mining is based on defining the process to be studied, interpreting the process, and identifying the steps (activities) involved in it. After mapping the identified process within the IT system and extracting the necessary data, the data tables are loaded into the process mining tool. If necessary, data fields containing personal or confidential information should be encrypted (pseudonymized) during extraction by the extraction staff, at the discretion of the organization. Once the data has been loaded into the system, the process mining tool is ready to perform analyses and display the results in various ways provided by the system.
Based on the capabilities of the process mining tool, the loaded data can be filtered, listed, sorted, and, thanks to the system’s properties, the analysis can be drilled down to any level of detail. Thanks to the system’s analysis and visualization capabilities, results can be displayed in different views. This diversity in visualization also supports the identification and visualization of root causes. Based on the calculated results of the analyses, the system’s development potential can be clearly quantified and presented in a highly visual manner.
The system is capable of analyzing and measuring the degree of compliance with the current (expected AS-IS) process defined by the organization, based on the compliance of the cases examined. It can also identify the root causes that lead to deviations from the expected process implementation in the loaded cases.
In modern process mining systems, it’s also possible to establish an online link between the source system and the data mining system, allowing for continuous analysis execution. Process mining tools can even provide real-time process monitoring based on the analysis data and send alerts regarding specific actions to be taken for each case.
The system is capable of analyzing and measuring the degree of compliance with the current (expected AS-IS) process defined by the organization, based on the compliance of the cases examined. It can also identify the root causes that lead to deviations from the expected process implementation in the loaded cases.
