Digitalization and project management maturity assessment
Project description
Senior management sought to gain a deeper understanding of middle management’s perception of the company’s current progress in digitalization, as well as their knowledge and application of project management methods and tools. The goal was to use these insights to shape strategic directions and actions for the coming years.
Project solution
Challenge
Each year, the company updates its strategy for the next three years, ensuring alignment with its long-term, 10-year objectives. Although strategic planning covers the company’s key operational areas, digitalization and project-based operations had not received sufficient emphasis in corporate strategy, resulting in a lack of related strategic actions.
Implementation
Having prior knowledge of the company, we developed diagnostic models based on well-established and widely referenced methodologies to provide relevant insights. Using these models, we designed a questionnaire and an interview guide. Every middle manager completed the questionnaire, followed by in-depth interviews based on open-ended questions. The results were analyzed using statistical methods and then presented to management, highlighting correlations, consequences, and recommended actions for progress.
Result
Some of the strengths, weaknesses, aspirations, and risk perceptions identified were expected and confirmed by the assessment, while others came as a surprise to management. Based on the findings, the HR team organized a strategic retreat, where leaders further examined the most critical focus areas and developed an action plan for advancing digitalization and project-based operations.
